Yes – our partner Graded Labs is still working on a new engine for all of our Core Knowledge Simulation products. The new expected release date is somewhere around Jan 15, 2010. In the meantime, here are four more for you to enjoy. Answer these questions in the comments. On Thursday, December 24th, 2009, we will randomly draw from the pool of students that had the answers correct. One lucky winner will receive the new CCIE Routing and Switching Certification Guide, Fourth Edition.
1.40 Implement Ethernet Technologies
In which component of a modern (non-legacy) PPPoE configuration do we typically assign the TCP/IP address?
2.80 Implement Performance Routing (PfR) and Cisco Optimized Edge Routing (OER)
What command do you issue on a Cisco router in order to enter OER-managed border router configuration mode to establish communication with a border router during a Performance Routing configuration?
5.60 Implement IPv6 multicast, PIM, and related multicast protocols, such as Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD)
What version of MLD is required in order for IPv6 to implement Source Specific Multicast?
6.02 Implement Zone Based Firewall
What zone controls access for packets that are destined for the router acting as a Zone Based Firewall?

1.40 dialer interface
2.80 oer master
5.60 MLD version 2
6.02 self
Can question 6.02 be re-written , this question is not clear, needs to be worded differently
Hi Rodney – we just checked the wording – there is no error.
Best of luck!
No, there is now error , I don’t understand what the question is asking, what zone controls access for packets
Sorry – others have had no problem getting the question correct. Please think about it more…..
Often times, the way the actual Core Knowledge question is written can make it difficult for a learner. This sounds like one of those times for you.
Ok thanks, Maybe after I see the answer it will make more sense to me.
My pleasure Rodney – and I will enter you in the contest just the same! Thanks so much for participating in and following our blog.
1. Virtual-template
2. oer border (by the way, the question has 2 meanings, second possible answer – master ).
3. MLDv2
4. self zone
1.In virtual-template
2.oer master
3.ipv6 mld ver2
4.self zone in zone based firewall
Let me know am i Co*****
1.40 Implement Ethernet Technologies
interface dialer x
2.80 Implement Performance Routing (PfR) and Cisco Optimized Edge Routing (OER)
oer master
border ip-address [key-chain key-chain-name]
5.60 Implement IPv6 multicast, PIM, and related multicast protocols, such as Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD)
MLDv2
6.02 Implement Zone Based Firewall
Self zone
1.40 Interface dialer
2.80 “oer master” and “border ip-address”
5.60 MLDv2
6.02 Self Zone
1.40 dialer interface
2.80 oer master
5.60 mld version 2
6.02 self
1.40 – In the interface Dialer configuration mode.
2.80 – Issuing the command “oer border” in privileged exec mode.
5.60 – MLD version 2 full supports SSM.
6.02 – The outside zone.
Hi,
I would assume you would recommend this title as a prep guide for the open ended questions.
I took my written on 3.0, but will take the lab on 4.0. Maybe this will help further with the new (3.0 to 4.0) updates?
Thanks
I have been peeking at sections – it is perfect for the Written, and would help with the Core Knowledge.
Obviously it falls short for the Lab.
Let me try :
1.40
The dialer interface
2.80
oer border
5.60
version 2
6.02
Drop – Drop the packet
Inspect – Context-based Access Control Engine
Pass – Pass the packet
Police – Police
Well, Here is goes….
1.4 – The component of a modern PPPoE configuration that we typically assign the TCP/IP address is the virtual template interface
2.8 – The command I would issue to enter OER-managed border router configuration mode is #border (ip address) key-chain (key-chain number). Note that you have to be in oer master controller configuration to enter this command
5.60 – The version of MLD that is required for IPV6 to implement Source Specific Multicast is MLDv2
6.02 – The zone that controls access for packets to/from the router is the self-zone.
Hello, ..
here are my ansers ( or should i say suggestions ) :
Q1.40 :
Virtual-Template
Q2.80 :
oer border
Q5.60 :
Version 2
Q6.02 :
self zone
Many thanks for Your excellent work, creating such great Preparation Materials.
Thanks, ..
/Christian
1.40 in Virtual Template
2.80 oer master
5.60 MLD v2
6.02 self zone
1. Dialer interface
2. oer border
3. MLD v2
4. No zone is required.
1.40. on a dialer inteface?
5.60. MLD v2 for sure
…still on the way
Here are my answer to win the new edition of our Bible :
1.40 The IPCP component of PPPoE could be used in conjonction with a DHCP pool for adress assignement
2.40
Under “oer border” config :
master IP address key-chain
5.60
MLD v2 is needed to use SSM with IPv6
6.02
The zone to control traffic coming or destined to the router itself is called ‘Self’
Regards
Morgan
@Rodney
He is right, No problem in understanding the question at all. Though I’m not much of a R&S guy so won’t be able to answer all the questions but Answer to the fourth question is “Self-Zone”.
Hi,
I hope I will win this book.
Here are my answers:
1.40 Implement Ethernet Technologies
In which component of a modern (non-legacy) PPPoE configuration do we typically assign the TCP/IP address?
Answer: In a interface virtual-template. This interface is included in a pppoe global group.
2.80 Implement Performance Routing (PfR) and Cisco Optimized Edge Routing (OER)
What command do you issue on a Cisco router in order to enter OER-managed border router configuration mode to establish communication with a border router during a Performance Routing configuration?
Answer:
Fist enter in oer master and after enter the command “border ip-address”
Router(config)# oer master
Router(config-oer-mc)# border ip-address [key-chain key-chain-name]
5.60 Implement IPv6 multicast, PIM, and related multicast protocols, such as Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD)
What version of MLD is required in order for IPv6 to implement Source Specific Multicast?
Answer: MLD version 2 is required for SSM to operate. MLD allows the host to provide source information. Before SSM will run with MLD, SSM must be supported in the Cisco IOS IPv6 router, the host where the application is running, and the application itself.
6.02 Implement Zone Based Firewall
What zone controls access for packets that are destined for the router acting as a Zone Based Firewall?
Answer: “self”. In the “zone-pair” you have to configure after the word “destination” in this case where the packet is destined to the router.
Example: zone-pair security net-self source internet destination self
service-policy type inspect to-self-pmap
1.40: In virtual-template configuration
2.80: oer master/border key-chain
5.60: MLD version 2
6.02: self zone
THE ANSWERS AND OUR WINNER!!!!!
1.40 Implement Ethernet Technologies
In which component of a modern (non-legacy) PPPoE configuration do we typically assign the TCP/IP address?
On a PPPoE client – the dialer interface; on a PPPoE server – the virtual template.
2.80 Implement Performance Routing (PfR) and Cisco Optimized Edge Routing (OER)
What command do you issue on a Cisco router in order to enter OER-managed border router configuration mode to establish communication with a border router during a Performance Routing configuration?
border ip-address
5.60 Implement IPv6 multicast, PIM, and related multicast protocols, such as Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD)
What version of MLD is required in order for IPv6 to implement Source Specific Multicast?
MLD Version 2
6.02 Implement Zone Based Firewall
What zone controls access for packets that are destined for the router acting as a Zone Based Firewall?
The SELF zone
