Hi Ian!

I have never seen the feature behave that way. I would assume someone was pointing out what the feature does upon INITIAL configuration.

Hi,

Thanks for that clarification!!!

I'm glad I saw that article now, Someone on a Video or an Audio lecture one time said that the Macro would continously lower it's value to maintain Root Status! Did this used to be the case at one time?

When I checked it, you were right, the new switch took over Root status and the Macro Switch lost it's Root Priority and never bothered trying to regain status!!

Thanks for that OEQ :)

Rgds,
Ian.

Hi Ronnie!

Excellent work - RootGuard is the tool that we use to help protect the root bridge placement. Remember, the RootGuard feature is a per port configuration.

Hi Bmom - we need to add an online class for early next year and record it to update the 6/12 day.

I will make sure we announce the dates on the blog.

Hi Ian!

Nope! :-) Check your running configuration after you issue the command - it is "macro" for setting the priority initially.

Hi,

Thanks for the new questions!!

Just on that last point Saj made, I also thought that if you issued the "spanning-tree vlan 26 root primary" that the "ROOT PRIMARY" keywords were a macro which would always keep (SWA)as the ROOT switch in the topology???

Thanks for the great examples.

I'm not so worried about OEC anymore.. I happen to be studying towards CCNP and this seems to be CCNA/P level stuff.

Will be using the provided links for additional reading too ;)

Cheers,
